Internet Explorer – Start Menu Icon Missing or Incorrect (PCS014)
If setting Internet Explorer as the default browser does not resolve the issue, the problem may be with an invalid registry setting.
1. Select Start - Run and type regedit <enter>.
2. Navigate to this Value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet\IEXPLORE.EXE\DefaultIcon
3. Change the value to “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe,-32528”
Note: The value typically “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe,-7” if this is the issue.
4. Reboot.
